Renal Pathophysiology Laboratory Stands Out at the 10th Congress of the Hypertension Society

From August 7 to 9, the 10th Congress of the Hypertension Society: “Integrated Cardiorenometabolic Approach” was held, bringing together national and international specialists to address current challenges in hypertension, cardiovascular health, and kidney diseases.

The congress featured the participation of prominent international experts, including Dr. Brandy Wayne, Dr. Rita Tostes, and Dr. Tiago Costa, whose lectures were highly praised and played a key role in the academic success of the event.

As the Renal Pathophysiology Laboratory, we had an especially active participation, contributing both to scientific exchange and to the dissemination of research advances.

A source of great pride for our team was the recognition received by two of our graduate researchers in training. Magdalena Castro, a student in the PhD Program in Chronic Diseases, received the Award for Best Clinical Research with her work titled “Cardiovascular–Renal–Metabolic Syndrome: Characterization of Patients in a Cardiovascular Health Program at a Primary Care Center in Santiago, Chile.” Meanwhile, Gabriela Arenas, also from the same program, received the Basic Sciences Award for her research titled “Impact of Maternal Chronic Obesity on Sex-Specific Predisposition to Arterial Hypertension in Offspring.” Both distinctions reflect the commitment, excellence, and promising projection of the scientific work carried out by our students.

These achievements strengthen the laboratory’s role in training new researchers and advancing knowledge in renal pathophysiology.
