Renal Pathophysiology Laboratory Leads Scientific Activity for Elementary Students at Manquecura Ñuñoa School
On October 30, the Renal Pathophysiology Team, together with Manquecura Ñuñoa School, carried out an enriching activity for the “Mini Scientists” Academy, aimed at elementary school students with the purpose of bringing them closer to the world of science and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
During the event, the team prepared various interactive stations where children were able to learn in a dynamic way about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Using educational materials, they compared how a healthy and well-nourished body looks versus one affected by unhealthy habits, gaining a visual understanding of the impact of nutrition and physical activity on overall health.
Students also learned which foods can act as true “heroes” or “villains” in our bodies, depending on their effects on health. Finally, they applied this knowledge to create their own food basket, selecting items based on the recommended daily, weekly, and monthly frequency of consumption.
For our laboratory, it was a highly rewarding experience to contribute to strengthening the scientific interest of younger generations, as well as to promote awareness of the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle for both the students and their families.
We sincerely thank Manquecura Ñuñoa School for giving us this opportunity to share and support the scientific education of children.
