World Hypertension Day

University of San Sebastián and Research Teams Join Forces for World Hypertension Day

Every May 17, World Hypertension Day is observed globally to raise awareness about the importance of preventing and managing this silent disease. In this context, the Renal Pathophysiology Laboratory at the University of San Sebastián (USS) organized an educational event on May 16, aimed at students and university staff.

The activity included blood pressure screenings and informative sessions on cardiovascular health, hypertension prevention, and healthy lifestyle habits. A nurse and PhD student in Chronic Diseases participated actively in the event, providing health education and direct care to the university community.

On Saturday, May 18, the commemoration continued with a Health Promotion Fair held at Ñuñoa Square, where members of the Renal Pathophysiology Laboratory joined the Hypertension and Renal Immunology Laboratory at a shared outreach stand. The initiative was also supported by the Chilean Society of Hypertension, reinforcing collaborative efforts to promote public health and raise awareness on this critical issue.
